I once heard that a method used to discredit a person is when two or three people with a prepared script get on the packed elevator in a downtown skyscraper during the early morning rush. They then say, “I heard through a reliable source that so and so did this and that.” They are counting on the fact that all the people in earshot of the performed elevator dialogue will be repeating the story from the “reliable source” around the water cooler all day long.
They are counting on the fact that the juicy piece of gossip will be screaming to come out of everyone who heard it because the character of man is corrupt. Prov. 18:8 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts.
I was reading Mark 11:22-24 and I kept seeing the words, “Therefore I say unto you.” Jesus was saying this. Christ was saying, it is me Jesus who is saying this. God is saying this. I AM the one saying this to you. I, God in the flesh is saying this to you whom I would never lie to. Suddenly I got it. Oh! Lord, YOU are saying this to me, not someone who is saying, “You said it to me,” but it’s actually you saying to me.
Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Jesus is saying “I say unto you,” and the credibility of His name surpasses all contrary arguments. All I have to do is believe what Jesus says is truth and possible.
God is amazing in how He is working His plan of salvation for mankind here. In the Garden of Eden a fallen angel, Satan, brought a destructive lie to the woman, Eve, who was the mother of all mankind to come. Now the word of the Lord had come through the angel, Gabriel, to a woman, Mary, who would give birth to the One who would save mankind.
What an awesome God we serve. Mary’s response to the message was incredible until we realise who was announcing this message. God was saying it, and Mary said, “So be it!” Luke 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
good word
I agree that faith comes by hearing the word Rom. 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. There is an interesting verse where the Apostles are asking for more or increased faith. The Lord's answer seems to say use the faith you already have.
Luck 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
We should have a look on this idea the next time we have bible study. Blessings Monica.
The tricky thing is that you cannot pray to get more faith…faith only comes from reading the Word. Lord, be it unto me and my family according to thy word.
