When The Clock Stopped

Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
I was reading a news article about another terrorist causing death to himself and others by blasting everything within twenty-five feet of his surroundings in a market place. One of the shattered items lying broken among the human casualties was a clock that had stopped at seven minutes to four. For the poor Innocent bystanders that clock had displayed the recorded time of their deaths.
What had these people put-off until later that will never get done? How many of these people, who were cut down in a few seconds, left their houses earlier saying, “I love you mom, or was it? I hope I never see you again.” What had these victims of fanatical ideologies been buying at the time of their deaths? How many should-have, would-have, could-have thoughts taken place in the minds of the surviving friends and families who were being mentally tortured because of what might have been said the last time they had seen the victims alive?
No one knows the last tic of the clock that we will all experience one day. The word of God admonishes us to buy truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding. Prov. 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. The interesting thing about this verse of scripture is that we are told not to sell these Godly pearls for our lives once we have them.

Again, no one knows the allotted time we have on this earth and what we say and do can have a life-long lasting affect, good, or bad on others. Therefore, we should allow the inspiration of God’s truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding to influence our choices in life toward what we do and say. John Osteen taught his children to make sure their words were sweet because they might have to eat them one day.
Matt. 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. More importantly, we need the truth, wisdom, instruction and understanding from God daily, because we live in a fallen world full of precarious threats.

There are weapons that have been formed against us. Isa. 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. It is true that these weapons will not prosper, but nonetheless, there are weapons aimed at us all the time and we need God’s wisdom to defuse them.

We have been commissioned to go into the world with God’s redemptive message and Jesus, Himself, says we are amongst wolves. Matt. 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Our time on this side of eternity is a precious commodity ticking away with no stop to it until our appointed time. Don’t leave your loved ones without them knowing your heartfelt love for them. Eph. 4:26 Let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
Let us tell our children, spouses, parents, relatives and friends how much we love and care for them. They need to hear it from our hearts, because it might be the last memory they have of us. We cannot put these thoughts and feelings off for another time. We might not have that chance.
The rap group, DC Talk, says it clearly in their song Time is. “Time is tinkin’ away, tic tic tickin’ away. Tic toc tikity toc, time is tickin away. Time is tickin, it keeps on tickin’, time is tickin away.” Say that six times in row and you will get the message.

Buy the truth and sell it not, is the instruction. I once needed wisdom for a medical situation and this verse in Proverbs caught the eye of my heart. I asked God, “How much did the wisdom cost?” since the Word said to buy it. I was smiling at the time I was asking this cheeky question when I noticed the proverb number Proverbs 23:23. At that moment I remembered a teaching by Joan Hunter. She said, when a verse spoke to a need in her life, she would write a cheque as to the value of the verse numbers and give it by faith for the blessing of God.
So, I wrote a cheque for twenty-three dollars and twenty-three cents and put it in the church offering by faith for the healing I needed and the wisdom to stay healed. No! I was not buying a miracle: I was using the faith I had at the time. However, I do give testimony as some of my friends know this to be true, that I was healed that weekend. I am not saying this is a faith formula, but by faith, it worked for me. Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
We all have a time on this earth to give glory to our Lord, through and by our lives. Let us do it with the truth, wisdom, instruction and understanding that God gives us. 1 Thes. 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. Blessings to us all.

An Offensive Disease

Proverbs 21:2 Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts. We are not talking about the horrible effects that the black death plague, the Spanish flu, or our modern-day HIV had on people's lives. But more insidious, and deceitful is a...
