E Stands For Evidence

Proverbs 6:2 You have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.

The way I see it, the e in email stands for evidence. This week in the news another politician had to resign because of embarrassing photos and explicit emails. More frat boys were expelled because of questionable behaviors and the behaviors were posted online and emailed around. An executive of a company is being called out because of old email posts that expressed her negative views on a minority group of people and she is now having to answer for it. Num. 32:23 But if you fail to keep your word, then you will have sinned against the LORD, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out. Haven’t people figured out yet that everything that is written in an email and sent is forever in the world system and can be retrieved at any time?
What makes people think they can get away with bragging about secrets in their lives when it is plastered all over the world by their friends, coworkers, and family? The old Benjamin Franklin saying, “Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead” is apropos to heed in this tell-all tabloid world.
If you have a secret and want it kept, then tell absolutely no one. But whatever you do, don’t post it on the world-wide-web. Eccl. 10:20 Never make light of the king, even in your thoughts. And don’t make fun of the powerful, even in your own bedroom. For a little bird might deliver your message and tell them what you said. I reckon the little bird, in this case, would be Twitter.
It is wisdom to keep our slanders and false accusations to ourselves because if we spread lies and half-truths all over the place we will be judged for it. Matt. 12:36 I tell you that on the day of judgment people will have to account for every careless word they speak. In the same way that we should think before we hit the send button on an email, we should also think before we hit the send button of our mouth. Will the words I am about to say give life or a bruised lashing to someone’s soul? Is what I am saying uplifting or just more negative rhetoric? We can become as careless as these people who post their idiocy online and not think about the consequences.
What we say matters. It shows us and our fellow man who we really are. Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Our mouth will eventually say what is in our heart. This is why we need a new regenerated heart created by the Lord and the finished work of the cross.
It is Christ within us changing us day-by-day to live and move in the power of the Holy Spirit. Would Jesus be posting slanders and the nastiest words online? Of course not. Then why are some who claim to walk with Christ posting cruelties and plotting vengeful thoughts? James 3:10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
If you want to change your words, then change your focus. Phil. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Start hanging around people who still believe in honor and forthrightness of character for life. Stop the gossip in its tracks.
Before you decide to post something you are not sure of and whether it should even be posted in the first place, remember the e in email may come back to visit you. Col. 3:23 Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people. Amen and amen!

There Is No Hate Like Christian Hate

Proverbs 6:16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to Him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a lying witness who gives false...

Anger Is Expensive

Proverbs 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.         In the early 1980s, while attending Bible college and living in Australia, I ministered in prisons for a few years. A common regret among...

Choose Your Hard

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. No matter what people say, life is hard. Some have it much harder than others, but overall, for most of the world's population, life is...

Make Your Bed

Acts 9:33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately.         I heard Derek Prince say, "The voice...

You Can’t Say That!

Matthew 10:19 But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to respond or what to say. In that hour you will be given what to say. My pronouns are The Redeemed of the Lord, and The Righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. You can call me that anytime you want....

A Useful Idiot

Ezekiel 28:18 By the multitude of your iniquities, with the injustice of your trading, you have profaned your holy places. And I have brought forth fire from your midst; it has devoured you, and I have given you to ashes upon the earth, before the eyes of all those...

The Low Hum Of Dread

Joshua 2:10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites across the Jordan, whom you devoted to destruction. 11 When we heard this, our hearts...

That’s A Lot Of Faith

Acts 19:19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totalled fifty thousand pieces of silver.         When God gets hold of a person's heart, there is...

Christianism Falls Short

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!       Christianism generally refers to the use of Christian principles as a political ideology. This is why Christianism does...

Keep Breathing

Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.         My friend Glennis asked her hundred-year-old grandfather what the secret to longevity was. He...

Living Loving Laughing

Daniel 5:5 In the same hour, the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. 6 Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him,...

Adjusting To Chaos

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.         Those who have found themselves easily adjusting to chaos, led by...
