Those Who Celebrate Ignorance

by Oct 1, 2025Devotional3 comments

2Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

From Paul the Apostle to the scientist Carl Sagan, there have been numerous thoughtful thinkers throughout history who have made predictions and issued warnings about humanity’s potential descent into a state of chosen ignorance and willful debauchery. Some of those who have chosen to be unteachable advocate for the right to participate in acts of sinful cruelty and gestures of buffoonery, so they can brag about themselves while encouraging others to participate with them. 2Pet. 2:18 They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception. 19 They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you. When did this online broadcasting standard of corrupt thinking become the default setting of those who practice evil? Has this chosen ignorance and stupidity always been there, but hidden in the proverbial closet, per se?

History demonstrates that there has always been a form of ignorance and sinfulness in the days and times that people lived in. I may be naive in my understanding, and hopefully, I’m not being a chronological snob, but I sense that a lot of the ignorance and misunderstanding that was lived out in centuries passed was because of a lack of comprehension and inability to grasp what was available to the people at the time. Many lived in sickening poverty, terrifying superstitions, and the constant fear of ‘kill or be killed’ by the sword. In most cases, they lived their whole lives in the boundaries of the villages and towns they were born into. They did not have the luxury to celebrate every idiotic, triggering statement being said by someone in another city or other section of the country. They did not have the opportunity to gather in large numbers, wasting time, resources, and the limited health they had on the nonsense that brought no value to the society they were from.

I’m not saying that sin and iniquity were non-existent or that evil wasn’t a problem back then; I’m saying with all that we have today, and the amazing technologies at our fingertips, that this knowledge and technical advancement end up being used to blaspheme God’s name, shout racist slurs, and expose every act of lewdness and lunacy on line while expecting accolades and thumbs-up for doing so. If there ever was a basic standard for righteous living in our history, from what heights have we fallen? Where is the wisdom that all the advancements of the twenty-first century have given us? Rom. 1:22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Choosing to be cruel and malicious in heart, wicked in nature, and to celebrate this ignorance are not the choices God wants us to live by.

Whether it is the cults of Christian Nationalism, Christ culture, or flat-out Satan worship that the people are choosing to bow down to, the willful ignorance that is being chosen to celebrate these humanistic movements is causing a rancidness within the hearts of mankind. I, for one, do not want to be labelled with, lumped in, or linked to what is now becoming identified as these Christian grifters who are smiling in rapture over the commercializing and pawning off of so-called blessings from God. Claiming that their corrupted social and political views are anointed and inspired by God, they end up blaspheming the name they claim to be honouring. 2Tim. 3:4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 Having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. The Jesus we serve took a whip to these people when they turned the presence of God and the temple of prayer into the Ponzi scheme of self-righteous religiosity. Matt. 21:13 And He says to them, “It has been written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer.’ But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.‘”

This celebration of ignorance and evil is causing a Kakistocracy, which is a state or a society governed by its least suitable or competent citizens. My heart breaks because I know some Christians who have fallen for and been seduced by this movement and idea of governance. Lost in all the cacophony of rhetoric is that these Christians who are hitching their wagons to this ideological star (which is on its way to becoming a black hole) are putting their full trust in man’s ability and knowledge. Psalm 146:3 Do not trust in noblemen, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. The volumes of books and articles written over the centuries have demonstrated that when ignorance manifests as religious zeal, it seizes the heart of righteousness and brings a curse and a violation to the core of humanity’s being. Jer. 17:5 This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD.

This expression has been floating around within conversations lately: “The last time science was denied and the religious were in charge, it was called – The Dark Ages.” What we all need at this time is the grace of the Holy Spirit to give us the heart and desire to pray for one another, that we would not be at each other’s throats with our personal fires burning out of control. We need to pray the will of God into our lives and not the will of a social or political persuasion. Jesus said that we honoured Him when we visited the prisoner, fed the hungry, and took care of the widows. Our God-given compass has been hijacked by the deceivers and manipulators of iniquity, who have adopted Christianese into their speeches, causing a dumbing down of a spiritual life where there is an appearance of godliness, but denying the Lord’s power.

If ignorance and foolishness are the default setting of one’s choice, then the fruit of these choices will bring damnable consequences. Stupid actions bring stupid prizes. Jesus, our Saviour, went through a torturous sacrifice to give us His salvation and a renewed mind that could escape the dungeons of nonsense. 2Tim. 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Through Christ, we can now mature into a sound mind that betters itself from the insanity it once lived in. In Christ, we have become new creatures who seek righteousness and the forthrightness of the heart of God. Through Jesus, our Lord, we have been given the mind that can do all things that bring honour to our God, and life to our being. Instead of getting on a grandstand to declare nonsense, let us get on our knees and ask for mercy for all who have made ignorance and foolishness their god. Heb. 6:3 And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding. Within the church, we need a revival of righteous minds that are submitted to God the Father. Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, let this revival happen. Amen!

    • Amen to those thoughts. I believe Christian’s need to fact check their beliefs before they jump onto any wagons. Staying rooted in the word of God is always the best corse of action.

Ironies To Contemplate

There Is No Hate Like Christian Hate

Proverbs 6:16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to Him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a lying witness who gives false...

Anger Is Expensive

Proverbs 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.         In the early 1980s, while attending Bible college and living in Australia, I ministered in prisons for a few years. A common regret among...

Choose Your Hard

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. No matter what people say, life is hard. Some have it much harder than others, but overall, for most of the world's population, life is...

Make Your Bed

Acts 9:33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately.         I heard Derek Prince say, "The voice...

You Can’t Say That!

Matthew 10:19 But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to respond or what to say. In that hour you will be given what to say. My pronouns are The Redeemed of the Lord, and The Righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. You can call me that anytime you want....

A Useful Idiot

The Low Hum Of Dread

Joshua 2:10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites across the Jordan, whom you devoted to destruction. 11 When we heard this, our hearts...

That’s A Lot Of Faith

Acts 19:19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totalled fifty thousand pieces of silver.         When God gets hold of a person's heart, there is...

Christianism Falls Short

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!       Christianism generally refers to the use of Christian principles as a political ideology. This is why Christianism does...

Keep Breathing

Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.         My friend Glennis asked her hundred-year-old grandfather what the secret to longevity was. He...

Living Loving Laughing

Daniel 5:5 In the same hour, the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. 6 Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him,...

Adjusting To Chaos

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.         Those who have found themselves easily adjusting to chaos, led by...
