There is a Chinese proverb that says, “He who seeks vengeance must dig two graves: one for his enemy and one for himself.” The word of God advises us not to seek vengeance; but rather allow God to intervene on our behalf because He is the perfect judge. Rom. 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
If we bring vengeance to a personal wrong, then there is a law of sowing and reaping that is at work in our world and the constant exacting of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth will never end. As someone once said, “You will end up with a bunch of blind toothless people.”
This verse is good news to me because I want to reap what I sow in the kingdom of God for me and my family. I want the favour of the Lord’s blessing whatsoever I put my hands and heart to doing. I want the Holy Spirit leading and teaching me how to sow to the Spirit of God that I may excel in my Christian walk. Yes, Lord, let me reap what I sow.
Heb. 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. With God, there is always a fresh and merciful start. Lam. 3:22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassion’s fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
When we are sowing according to His will, then how great a crop shall we receive. Isaac sowed in a time of famine and the God-given result was blessing. Gen. 26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. God loves the success that He helps us accomplish. Now, let’s get sowing, and we will receive a joyful crop of God’s goodness.
Amen! We are redeemed from the curse of the law. If that is true why should any bad seed be allowed to grow and bear fruit if we repented? The enemy is an accuser trying to move people's faith in a bad harvest instead of the redemption promise!
