Proverbs 16:12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

We should remind ourselves that it is okay not to be perfect. There is one who is perfect and He holds us in the palm of his hand. Christ, the Lord is the perfect one and He has our eternal interests at heart. We tend to take ourselves too seriously and judge ourselves harder then God judges us. God’s judgement was poured out on Christ so that we could be free of all judgement and condemnation.
If we are walking in the obedience of the Lord, before our God, then judgment is a non-issue. Rom. 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. So why are we so hard on ourselves? If we, who are in Christ, have been freed from the condemnation of our past sins, why then do we sometimes walk in the judgment of our own personal unacceptability?
I’m too fat. I’m too skinny. I’m too short. I’m too plain. I’m just too something or other. On and on it goes with Pavlovian rapidity of self-examination to the point of utter disappointment in our personal being. It may be that we are just too solipsistic and the realization that the world does not revolve around our personal existence is the truth we need to acknowledge and calm down.
We need to take a moment and think about what John said. John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. John the Baptizer was expressing that Jesus must increase in our lives and we must decrease our own position of lordship on the throne of our heart. If we do not make this change in our soul, we run the risk of missing the reason we were created in the first place; always on the outside looking in with longing for personal identity.
If we remain in our position of lord of our life, we will never come into a place that our personal creation was meant to accomplish. Haggai 1:6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes. 7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Who is in control here?
When Christ is on the throne of our heart and living therein, plus has been given full reign as the Lord of our very being, we then will finally find acceptance in who we are. We will even be able to accept all of our flaws and this will be possible because Christ loves us and accepts us, warts and all. Rom. 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
We can begin to calm ourselves because we stand in a position of God’s blessed acceptance of ourselves while possessing self-worth rather than looking for empty assurance in all the new fashions the world offers. We will no longer be tossed about by every type of spiritual whim that floats abundantly throughout our society. Eph. 4:14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.
In the records of the Kings, we read the story of Rabshakeh who was the king of Assyria’s spokesman. With loud threats and a booming voice, he tries to get the king and the people of Israel to surrender without a fight. 2 Kings 18:30 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
Rabshakeh uses logic and points out that they should look at what happened to the other nations that tried to resist Assyria. 2 Kings 18:33 Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria? However, the people kept their calm and considered who they were in the Lord. 2 Kings 18:36 But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

Then King Hezekiah did what any God-reliant person would do: he called for the man of God. 2 Kings 19:5 So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah. God’s response is wonderful. 2 Kings 19:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. 7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. This is exactly what ends up happening. Rabshakeh returns to report and finds the army has gone on to another battle.

The word of the Lord to King Hezekiah and the people of Israel was “Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard.” These people knew they were not perfect and yet God took care of them the way they were. Calm yourself. God is in charge of your life and He will be a blessing to you.
We do not have to judge ourselves right out of the love and blessing God has for us. We are not too short, thin, ugly or even unworthy. We are who God made us to be and we need to say, “Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings in my life and thank you for what you are doing in my life. It is true Lord, I am not perfect but with your help, I am on my way.” In God’s eyes, through Christ, I am just right. I can be calm in the love of my God. Amen!

Proverbs 6:16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to Him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a lying witness who gives false...

Anger Is Expensive

Proverbs 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.         In the early 1980s, while attending Bible college and living in Australia, I ministered in prisons for a few years. A common regret among...

The Low Hum Of Dread

That’s A Lot Of Faith

Acts 19:19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totalled fifty thousand pieces of silver.         When God gets hold of a person's heart, there is...

Christianism Falls Short

Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.         My friend Glennis asked her hundred-year-old grandfather what the secret to longevity was. He...
