Reversing The Curse

by Sep 4, 2013Devotional7 comments

Proverbs 26:2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

The subject of reversing a curse in one’s life is too spooky, odd, or even out-there for some Christians to believe possible, and that is sad since the Lord has given us the ability and blessing to do so. Matt. 18:18 Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven. We can bind the curses that fallow our family, but it will take faith and God’s instruction to get it done. We have to use our faith in Christ to become free of whatever binds us. James 2:26  For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also

The reason for not dealing with some unexplained hurts, bondages, memories, and repeated failures in our lives is just not wanting to face these devils that have come to accuse our hearts. Some of us have become weary and wary of the whole thing. I would encourage you to try one more time and trust the Lord’s word by using this powerful gift of deliverance.

My first encounter with the need to deal with a hurtful event from my past would come around every September to October. I would go through the most horrible feelings of depression, worthlessness, self-hatred, and sluggishness to the point of craving death for relief. If I would have been able to explode from the inside out and all my particles were to spread throughout the universe, I would still not have found the release from the anguish and self-hatred I carried.

Once November came around, I was fine. What curse was I living under and how could I get rid of it? Even after I was saved in Christ, I would still experience this yearly unwanted visitation in my life. The difference was that now I had a way to be healed because I believed in the healing power of the Lord Jesus.

I was praying and asking God to reveal to me the root of this yearly battle when I felt I should call my mother and ask her if I had been conceived out of wedlock. Thank you, Lord, for my courageous and loving mother who confessed to me during that phone call that, yes, I was a year old when my parents were finally married.

I had found the accusation the enemy of my soul was using to keep me in self-hatred. Satan was using the broken law of fornication to try and kill me from the first day of my conception. Duet. 23:2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Thank God that there are no illegitimate children on this earth; there are only sinful parents. Praise the Lord that the sins of these parents have been paid for in full by the blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Is the devil determined to destroy your life? We better know that Satan is cursing us and our existence all the time. Psalm 10:7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. Psalm 109:17 He loved to pronounce a curse may it come back on him. He found no pleasure in blessing may it be far from him. 18 He wore cursing as his garment; it entered into his body like water, into his bones like oil. 19 May it be like a cloak wrapped about him, like a belt tied forever around him. 20 May this be the LORD’s payment to my accusers, to those who speak evil of me.

The weapon that I have learned to use is the act and participation of communion. Who am I showing the Lord’s death to? Who am I reminding that I have been saved and completely delivered? I am showing it to the enemy who cannot stand in the presence of Christ’s holy blood. 1Cor. 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, “Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.” 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, “This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come.

The key here is the deliverance that comes from Christ’s words, ‘Do this in remembrance of me.’ The doing of communion is the act of faith on your part because of who you are in Christ, and the result is the testament of His blood covered once and for all the events of your hurtful past.

The communion becomes a reference point as to when you actually dealt with the traumas of your life. When a new accusation arises, your faith will say, “No, this is covered by the blood forever and I walk in that freedom.”

I have had great personal deliverance from using this powerful and spiritual gift that God has given us to use as a weapon against the devil and other sicknesses. Today, I love the months of September and October. I am free from all the terrible feelings I used to experience and have learned to deal with any memory that comes to haunt my soul by partaking through faith, in the act of worship and communion. Isa. 12:4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.

I have been blessed with Pastor Norm´s lessons for a while now. I have used the powerful tool of communion for other things…when I need to have a full-proof weapon of deliverance. AND IT WORKS. Every single time. God always delivers.

We have to watch that we do not automatically label every child born out of wedlock as one who will accept the accusations that can bring a curse. The result in my life was an opening for the enemy to accuse me and I was affected throughout my childhood by that accusation of worthlessness. I have a friend who reacted different from his birth in that he could never hug or be hugged until we had communion and broke that stronghold. I know another person who was born out of wedlock, abused, and rejected and he never had problems that were evident. He seemed to take life as it was and he is a great family man and a fun dad for his kids. So there is a caution in just labeling every one under the same devil. The other impotent thing is to remember that there are no unwanted children by God or illegitimate children born in this earth. There are only sinful parents who also need saving in Christ. We are so blessed to live on this side of the cross where we have access to a full life and redemption because of the FINISHED work of the Lord.

Communion, what a powerful tool. Through this blog I learned that one reason we take communion is to show Satan the Lord's death and that I am completely delivered and saved. One question that arose while reading this, was that if being born out of fornication brings a curse on the child, what does this mean for this generation of of children, many of whom are born the same way? Also, when symptoms such as sickness try to return after we reverse the curse, do we continue to take communion as a declaration that the curse, and thus the symptom, has no place returning?
