All That Faith

Proverbs 13:12  Hope deferred makes the heart sick: but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
Our hopes and desires are fulfilled by our faith in God and His word. We know that faith is needed to please God. Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. And yet God will allow us, by grace, to approach Him with whatever level of faith we have even – little faith that is close to none. Mark 9:24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Faith is a gift from God to each one of us, for maturity in the faith to be used for His glory and our growth. Rom. 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. We also know that this faith will increase through believing God’s word. Rom. 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
There are different type and measures of faith, and all faith works in hope of an expected end. Heb. 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The Lord will even help our faith by infusing it with His faith. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is the gift of faith from the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:9a To another faith by the same Spirit.
We are encouraged to use mustard seed faith, and the implication being that the smallest amount of God-inspired faith can move any mountain in our life. Matt. 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
This faith is wonderful because the law of the seed is at work here; therefore, our faith will grow over time if we are patient. I heard a teacher once say, “Even grass turns to milk if you have patience.” Likewise, faith turns to substance if we have patience.
As Jesus walked throughout the Holy Land, He looked for people to have faith in Himself. The interesting thing was that He found some great faith with the centurion, the Syrophenician woman, and the woman at the well. It could be said that this verse describes the faith of these people. Luke 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
The other poignant fact is that these people were all gentiles, yet they could see the Messiah clearly and could make a draw by faith on Christ’s virtue because their hearts were not clouded with religion as His own people. John 1:11 He came unto His own, and his own received Him not.
A religious heart will cause our faith to falter even though every endeavour has been provided for us to come to Him by any faith we have. So, let us proceed with His grace, helping us grow in faith, believing from a clean heart. 1 Tim. 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

Ironies To Contemplate

Anger Is Expensive

Proverbs 16:32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.         In the early 1980s, while attending Bible college and living in Australia, I ministered in prisons for a few years. A common regret among...

Choose Your Hard

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. No matter what people say, life is hard. Some have it much harder than others, but overall, for most of the world's population, life is...

Make Your Bed

Acts 9:33 There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately.         I heard Derek Prince say, "The voice...

You Can’t Say That!

Matthew 10:19 But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to respond or what to say. In that hour you will be given what to say. My pronouns are The Redeemed of the Lord, and The Righteousness of God through Christ Jesus. You can call me that anytime you want....

A Useful Idiot

Ezekiel 28:18 By the multitude of your iniquities, with the injustice of your trading, you have profaned your holy places. And I have brought forth fire from your midst; it has devoured you, and I have given you to ashes upon the earth, before the eyes of all those...

The Low Hum Of Dread

Joshua 2:10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites across the Jordan, whom you devoted to destruction. 11 When we heard this, our hearts...

That’s A Lot Of Faith

Acts 19:19 Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totalled fifty thousand pieces of silver.         When God gets hold of a person's heart, there is...

Christianism Falls Short

Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!       Christianism generally refers to the use of Christian principles as a political ideology. This is why Christianism does...

Keep Breathing

Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.         My friend Glennis asked her hundred-year-old grandfather what the secret to longevity was. He...

Living Loving Laughing

Daniel 5:5 In the same hour, the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. 6 Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him,...

Adjusting To Chaos

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.         Those who have found themselves easily adjusting to chaos, led by...

And Then What?

Matthew 16:26 What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? If I could have that amount in my bank account, then I could... If I owned that property, then I could.... If I had all that...
