Jesus The Word

by Sep 18, 2013Devotional1 comment

Proverbs 13:13 Whoso despises the word shall be destroyed: but he that fears the commandment shall be rewarded.

To despise means: To regard as negligible, worthless, distasteful, or to look down on with contempt.
To despise the written word of God is to despise Jesus; even if you do not like what I am saying, this is true. My late Pastor Arnold Kalamen said,” If Jesus is not Lord of all, He is not Lord at all.”
The word of the Lord says that Jesus is the Word of God. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
How precious is the word of God that we have free access to its God-inspired instructions for our lives every minute and day if we want it? This gift exists because of the sacrifice of the early believers from our own Christian history. John 4:37 And herein is that saying true, One sows, and another reaps. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

Our forerunners paid for the bible with their lives and today we can live in the blessing of the word of the Lord because of that sacrifice. To despise this living Word is an indictment against our responsibility and stewardship of this good news message for our times.
Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church, says from his series, From Dream to Destiny. “God tests our faith with the prophetic word, then God tests our character with the written word.” If we do not take the written word of God to heart and allow that word to cleanse and direct us forward, we will not fulfill our destiny that God has purposed for us.
Thomas Edison said, “Vision without execution is just hallucination.” The Lord said it this way in James
2:20b That faith without works is dead. We must put our faith in the Word who is Jesus whom God gave us, because He is the only way we will get direction from God. Heb. 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.
After the book of Malachi was written, there are four hundred years of God’s voice being silent. Man finally hears God speak again at the baptism of Jesus and His transfiguration where God says, Luke 9:35  And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
That was all God said, “Hear Him.” What elaboration is needed here? Hear Him, listen to Him, believe what He says, and have faith in Him. Jesus is the Word of God and God’s living Word is in us to fulfill the holy will of the Father. 1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

I love the Word of God and the Word loves me. 1 Cor. 3:23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s. May God’s face shine on us all.
