All Those Tears

Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Revelation 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. What a wonderful promise God gives us. God, Himself will wipe away every tear, and we can count on the fact that God’s healing for the causes of our tears, will be thorough. There will finally be real healing for every hurt we have ever experienced and every hurt we have caused.
We can see Jesus doing this very thing – taking the pain and reason for weeping away. In the Gospel of Luke chapter seven, we read the story of Jesus coming into the city called Nain. When Jesus drew near the city gate, a dead man was being carried out and he was the only son of his mother. Jesus was moved with compassion and healed the young man of death. Luke 7:13 When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said, “Don’t weep.” 14 Then he came up and touched the open coffin, and the pallbearers stopped. And he said, “Young man, I tell you, get up! ” 15 The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.
These are only my thoughts, but, did Jesus see in this event something resembling what his own mother would be weeping for? Jesus’ mother would see and go through the loss of her son at the Crucifixion? Was the Lord seeing all the weeping that would take place until the glory of the resurrection was fulfilled? Maybe the Lord was showing us the power of tear-filled prayers that are handed over to Him by faith. Psalm 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
So many people feel like the Psalmist who had become weary of life’s pains and tired of crying about them. Psalm 69:3 I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God. “When will my miracle come to pass?” is the cry of many people who’s hearts suffer emotionally and physically.
Even Jesus wept, and the Lord knows the feelings of our broken heart. Isa. 53:3a He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. John 11:35 Jesus wept. This verse is often talked about as being the shortest verse in the Bible. It may be the shortest, but it has one of the largest impacts on humanity. To know that our Lord can relate to the pains in our body, and the hurts in our grieving hearts clearly demonstrate a personal Lord, and a suffering Christ. Jesus can truly relate to what is going on in our deepest soul.
Now, this is a God I can relate to and trust with my eternity. My Jesus, a man of sorrows. When I am lonely and cannot find the answers to the difficulties of the day. I think of the prayer the Holy Spirit groans out for us with deep intersection, because He knows what we are going through. Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings.
Thank God we have a Lord we can come to in our weakest moments of life. Maybe after walking with our Lord for many years, and have experienced God’s faithfulness toward us, we too, can come to the same conclusion Peter did. John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you hast the words of eternal life. Yes, where can we go but to the Lord with our tears? He truly is the only one who understands.
Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Blessings Saints.

Christianism Falls Short
