I Need The Words

Genesis 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness.

Heavenly Father, I need the words of Your faith language so that I too may be aligned with Your living Word!

God’s vocabulary is clear, clean, and powerful. The Lord’s language and expression of it, are imbued with anointed power, amazing grace, and loving creativity. His words give life to all who receive them, plus His words attract the angels as they are fully attentive and wait for the command of His heavenly language. Psalm 103:20 Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command. The Word of God can transform a heart, enlighten a mind, and destroy a disease because the Word of God is alive and full of resurrection power. The authority of God’s Word can make a new man out of anyone who submits to God and receives the Lord’s gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ His Son. From the first day, God said, “Let There Be Light,” His Word manifested whatever God intended the Word to do. This living Word is available for our lives if we accept God’s terms of use for them.

Moses had lived in the royal presence of the Pharaohs and the leadership of Egypt. He would have understood his limitations within the royal system’s hierarchy, authority, and power. This would have made Moses feel powerless in Pharaoh’s courts after the realization that he had killed an Egyptian for beating a Hebrew slave. Moses ran away to the wilderness. Ex. 2:15 When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well. Moses became a fugitive living in the wilderness and keeping clear of Pharoah’s reach.

After the burning bush experience, life changed for Moses. God asked him to speak to the Egyptian royals about letting God’s people go, but Moses was tongue-tied because of his inferiority in not being able to speak eloquently. Ex. 4:10 But Moses said to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I have never been a skilled speaker. Even now, after talking to you, I cannot speak well. I speak slowly and can’t find the best words.” The Lord then assured Moses that God’s words would be placed in his mouth and that he would know what to say. Ex. 4:12  Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak. God also provided a backup plan of reassurance for Moses and said that Aaron could speak for him. Ex. 4:16 Aaron will be your spokesman to the people. He will be your mouthpiece, and you will stand in the place of God for him, telling him what to say.

When we take time in the presence of the Lord, there comes an assurance of strength. When we step forth into what God has asked us to do, He will go ahead of us and give the plans that He has prioritized to those who will be shaped by God’s plans. God went ahead of Moses and Aaron and caused Pharaoh to see Moses and Aaron as gods and people of great power. Ex. 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. By the time the ten plagues had run their course and devastated the Egyptians, Moses was eloquent in speaking God’s words and had acquired the ability to speak to the people of Israel with courage and confidence. God had turned the insecurities that were once at the forefront of Moses’ mind into a Godly strength that now allowed Moses to speak confidently with anyone. Moses had found and was using God’s creative words to bring about God’s plan for his life and the lives of millions.

What we all need is what Moses needed. As unique as Moses was as a person and for the times that he lived in, so we, need the words of God that will bring the eternal results that God is sowing in our hearts. We all need a personal encounter with God to find the words of life that will transform our hearts to follow God and the plan He has for us. The children of Israel only heard of God and saw God’s actions, but Moses knew and became acquainted with God’s character. Psalm 103: 7 He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. Many people have heard of God, but relationship belongs to those who see and obey God through His word. Job 42:5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. The more we live and devour the Word of the Lord, the more we will see Him through the covenant God has given us. God has given Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world as the living Word who lives within our hearts when we receive Him by faith. Jesus will guide us into the loving plan that our Heavenly Father has for us.

What intimidated you before you knew God? What fears did you fall for and submit to before Jesus became your Lord? What has now changed in your life since you have submitted to the Lordship of Christ? Once the Lord moved into our hearts and we started knowing the language of God’s love, and the power of His word, God’s authority – with your will – started to override and overcome everything that got in the way of our relationship with Christ. This is why Satan so badly needs you to choose sin and iniquity. If he can get you to believe you have lost your authority in Christ, you will believe his lies about God’s love toward you. The shame of sin confuses the heart, and battling Satan from that place of feeling shame and a loss of fellowship with God is where the devil has leverage for his constant lies that start to penetrate the mind.

It is markedly noticeable when you spend time with God and what comes out of your mouth will show the intimacy you have developed with the Father. It’s just as evident when you have spent time in the world. 1John 4:5 They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We who are in Christ, are not of this world but must travel through it bringing the Word of the Lord to those who are still living a lie. The mystery of eternity is within our soul and when we begin to speak with God’s grace and life-giving power, we will know the truth and the truth will set us and many free. The Word of the Lord gives life. Let us live in the power of His Word.

  1. Norm, this blog subject reminds me of the story of a man who challenged God to a bowl creation contest. He told God that he could create a bowl.
God said that He too could create a bowl. The man left God and went to gather materials to make the bowl and when he returned God asked him what he was doing. The man said he went to get some clay. God said to create a bowl you have to create your own clay.
Only God can speak things into existence.
Man cannot speak things into existence.
If man could, he’d be God and he isn’t God. There is only one true God.
