Falling From The Sky

Isaiah 14:12 How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!

When Satan fell from the sky, it was the result of God’s judgment that would seal Satan’s eternal existence of damnation. Luke 10:18 Jesus replied, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning. The devil’s fallen nature is beyond wretched misery, it is woefully desolate. Satan lives in an eternity of joyless wanderings, of emotional hollowness, and is never able to understand the revelation or illumination of God’s Word. Regardless of the truth set before him, his capacity to believe God’s truth has been skewed by the corruption that burns within him. Eze. 28:18 You have profaned your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities and the enormity of your guilt, by the unrighteousness of your trade. Therefore I have brought forth a fire from your midst; it has consumed you, and I have reduced you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who looked at you.

The devil is fighting a war on two fronts. He fights the church body of Christ, and he is fighting the judgmental flame of fire that God has set within him. A fire of consumption that cannot be quenched by any success Satan thinks he has won on this earth. No matter the millions of people he has killed or harmed over the centuries, there will never be a moment of satisfactory accomplishment. He will only be driven to deeper bitterness and forever reminded of the moment when he fell from the sky. His plan to get back into God’s heavens will never come to fruition and Satan’s last-place position will be his lot in eternity. How pathetic is his existence!

The marvel of being in Christ is that we are seated in heavenly places with our Lord. Our position is secured through Jesus who has welcomed us into His presence and invited us to sit with Him in His heavenly realm. Eph. 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. We do not need to worry about falling from our heavenly place because, through Jesus, we have become heirs of Christ’s holy inheritance, plus we have been made priests who now minister to our God in His kingdom. Rev. 1:6 He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. We are part of the eternal plan that God saw active within us before the foundations of the world.

When describing his visional dream of the ladder reaching into heaven, Jacob could not have imagined what we through Christ, now have access to. Gen. 28:12a And he had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth with its top reaching to heaven. Jacob might have had an idea of the possibility of ascending into God’s presence because he was in awe of his vision and convinced that he was standing at the gates of heaven. Therefore, he marked the location with a memorial stone. Gen. 28:18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. No longer are we required to look for a geographical location, tabernacle, or portal so to speak to find entrance into God’s presence. We have eternal access through Christ our Lord no matter where we are in this universe.

Not only do we have a righteous permission to the presence of our Heavenly Father, but because of the cleansing blood of Jesus, we also have God’s assurance that we will be with Him throughout eternity. Our door and gateway to heaven is through Jesus and Him only. John 10:9a I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he will be saved. We do not need to fear falling from the sky and losing the salvation of our souls. We are seated in a heavenly place with Christ not because of anything we have done, but all because of what Jesus did for us through His sacrifice on the cross. Our sins have been washed away and our acceptance by God the Father is now our life to live. Eph. 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Falling from the sky or falling from grace is no longer a fear we need to be overwhelmed by. As we walk in obedience to the path God has set before us, we can enter His rest, where our souls were meant to live. Heb. 4:9  There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. The concept of living on earth while we are sitting in heaven is in the natural hard to think through. However, we have been made through the blood of Jesus supernatural beings, new creatures, and righteously accepted by God all because of the Love Jesus has for us. 2Cor. 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Since the old part of our lives has passed away, let us stop going back to that life. Let us enter and accept the new life God has given us so that we may live in peace with our God for now and evermore. Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

  1. Remember back in the garden God walked with Adam before the fall.
We can only walk with God now because of the blood and body sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Through Christ we are reconciled to God and have peace with God. The relationship has been restored where God and man can walk together in agreement. Believers have the peace of God because the enmity between God and man was reconciled on the cross.
Satan does not have that option. He orchestrated the death of a sinless man at Calvary and lost his power.
He still roars around the place but the name of Jesus is the greater power He’s in denial. Christ triumphed over him and made a show of him openly.
Colossians 1 verses 19 to 23 encapsulate what God has done for us. What a mighty God we serve.

    • Amen and amen! God has secured our place in His kingdom through the work of our Lord Jesus. How good is that?
