Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Life is an abundant overflow and is designed to reproduce within the laws of creation that were set from the beginning. God said, “Let there be,” and life has never stopped producing, growing, and expanding. When flowers go to seed, countless seeds are cast out or fall from the flower head. Over a lifetime, trees can send out millions of seeds into the seasonal winds. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. All creation speaks of abundance and gives the impression that there is more to come, yet we live as if there is a lack and a shortage of everything that is needed to sustain us. The only reason a human being can starve to death within five hundred yards of a grocery store is the greed and corruptibility of man’s heart to hoard, steal, and usurp the abundance around us all. Prov. 11:24 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.
We have heard the expression that if God has given you a vision, there is Provision For The Vision. We can be at peace that God will give us what we need, so we can, with assurance, set out to fulfill the vision that has been placed within us. How do we pray and ask for the overflow of God’s blessings? I heard someone say, “The blessings you are looking for are in the work you are avoiding.” Wow, what have we been avoiding in our walk with God that has stopped the blessings from reaching us? One of the areas that hinders blessings is that we are so focused on acquiring more of everything, while forgetting to give and be generous with what we have.
The Word of God states that I am to cast my bread upon the waters so that after many days of faith-filled prayer and believing that the waves of God’s blessing will be headed my way. Eccl. 11:1 Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days. This verse is a lesson in faith, demonstrating that we should expect overflow because of our faith-filled actions toward casting what we have into the sea of need. Afterward, we can expect a return that is of heaven’s worth because we gave what we had to God. Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
The Lord admonishes us to give and stay generous even while facing the everyday problems that life hands out. Eccl. 11:2 Give a serving to seven, and also to eight, for you do not know what evil will be on the earth. Regardless of what the world authorities and fearmongers are saying with fearful intent, God is asking us to remain givers and continue to bless others, rather than becoming takers and hoarders. The world system cultivates fear so that people put their trust in those who run the world system, causing the world population to become dependent on their life supply. This tactic of Satan is designed to take our dependence and trust away from our Heavenly Father, who is the creator and provider of all. The enemy of our hearts wants us to fear the lack of resources and the loss of all we have, so that we live in constant uncertainty and are overwhelmed, never at rest.
The difference between a hoarder and a generous sower is the freedom it allows the givers to live their lives. I do not know the depth of faith that Isaac had, but his trust in God was immense. Isaac sowed in a time of national famine and reaped a harvest. Gen. 26:1 There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech, king of the Philistines, in Gerar.12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. Not only did Isaac reap a harvest, but from that time on, he became very wealthy and continued to be so for the rest of his life. Gen. 26:13 And the man Isaac became great and gained more and more until he became very wealthy and extremely distinguished. The reward of expecting God to do as He promised concerning the covenant that was made with Isaac turned out to be an overflow of blessings throughout his life.
The Word indicates that those people who know their God will do great things and not be afraid to attempt what God has sown in a person’s heart. Dan. 11:32b But the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. If we are doing great exploits, then it must mean that we finally did do the work we were avoiding, as stated earlier. God, whom we serve and who loves us, is generous to the point of giving us, through Jesus Christ, our eternal salvation. For God so loved the world that He gave all He had so that we could expect an overflow of God’s goodness towards us all. God, the Father, had great expectations for what Jesus gave to humanity. We, who are the apple of the Lord’s eye, need to have great expectations in the eternal work God has done and is doing through us every day. Let us live in the abundance of God’s mercy and be as merciful to those whom Jesus gave His life for. Amen and amen!

Amen. Thank you. Such a good word in this day of fear-based news.
Great reminder to keep pressing through and to expect overflow. Thanks Norm.
