Broken? Fix it!

Proverbs 29:1 One who becomes stiff-necked, after many reprimands will be shattered instantly–beyond recovery.

What a strange couple of weeks I have had. All kinds of little things kept breaking that needed repair or fixing right away. We got about a foot of snow one day and the snow blower would not start. A tiny metal fiber had plugged up a small part of the carburetor. The wipers on my car stopped in mid-wipe and needed fixing. The glove compartment latch snapped off and a band-aid repair was needed to stop everything from falling out unto the car floor. The toilet started a small leak at the floor and a new wax ring was needed. I dropped my electric toothbrush on the floor and it stopped buzzing away. It had been a gift. It had to be fixed. Then a few days ago the hood support stabilizers of my car would not keep the hood up. It let out a grinding noise and that was it.
Outside of the fact that the little breakdowns kept me busy figuring out what had to be done, there was nothing really dramatic here because all of these little annoyances could be repaired or fixed. The only odd thing was that these things kept happening one after another, therefore, it was noticeable. If these things are happening in the natural, what is going on in the spirit?
How many little things are breaking down or malfunctioning in our soul that God has talked to us about that need fixing? Why have we not asked the Lord for help in fixing the sinful things that we fall for so easily? If God says something is not right within us, then we should be on it. With God’s help and grace, we should be repenting, restoring, and repairing the wrong taking place within us. Phil. 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
We can become accustomed to living with broken appliances, furniture, vehicles and putting up with a patchwork of fixes that will get by for now. This attitude does not work in the kingdom of God. Nor should it. God is perfect and desires obedience. When He asks us to do His will, He doesn’t expect us to say, “Ya well, I’ll get around to it sometime soon.” We do not bring God down to our level of procrastination, but rather we rise to His level of perfection that He may be glorified and we may live and be blessed.

The danger in being lackadaisical with God’s directions in our life is that we may end up not caring or doing what He asks of us. Disobedient people will get to the point where they no longer listen to the Holy Spirit and their stiffneckedness will put them in a precarious position to be destroyed by the enemy of their soul. Prov. 6:15 Therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a moment he will be broken beyond healing. All because they did not obey the first simple instruction that was doable at the time. However, now they have become rebels because they did not fix the small things that were pointed out in love by God. 1 Sam 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
It is simple saints. In the same way, when we come across something needing repair at home or work, we get on it and do it. When God points out sin or problem, then we get on it and allow the Lord to fix it with our volition and cooperation. God will take notice, and He will help us if we ask for His help. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
We were created to solve problems. How much more could we do if we asked the God of all knowledge and wisdom for help? Broken? Fix it! Father, in Jesus name, help us not be afraid to ask you for all the help we need every day of our lives. Amen and amen!

God gives us the ability to fix things.
Actually every thing about us that is good is from the Lord. There is nothing good about unregenerate man other what God has gifted.
