Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
As an author of a few books, I have had to grapple with the page that is titled About The Author. The information on this page has changed over the years because I have changed and trying to be concise and informative at the same time can be a challenge. What does one say about oneself that does not come across as pretentious, but leaves the reader with an understanding of who the author is? This is not the case when it comes to our Lord and Saviour. Everything that will ever be needed to know the author and perfecter of our faith is in the name of Jesus. That name of Jesus contains all that man will ever need to know who is the author of everyone’s salvation. Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
The Apostle John found it a daunting task to explain the majesty of the author of life. John felt there were too many things that could be said about the name that is above all names. He wrote that the world could not contain the number of books that would elaborate on the beauty and perfection of Jesus, and explain all that Jesus had done for mankind. John 21:25 There are many more things that Jesus did. If all of them were written down, I suppose that not even the world itself would have space for the books that would be written. In effect, we might say that it would take an eternity to describe and write about the Author on the Author’s Page before we even consider what to start writing about.
The true story of the cross, which Jesus has written, is a stumbling block to the Jews, and foolishness to the Gentiles, but is part of the eternal story we are all being written into. 1Cor. 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. The Lord is setting up the events of life so that everyone can make a personal choice by choosing Jesus as their God and Saviour. The eternal biographer is writing and rewriting to make sure everyone has a chance to meet Jesus and come to the knowledge of His name. This living chronicle is a non-stop inscription on the pages of God’s book of remembrance. Mal. 3:16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name.
In the Lord’s correspondence with our hearts concerning our creation, He wants no one to perish. 2Pet. 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. When someone falls into sin, Jesus, the author, perfecter, and saviour of our faith, manifests His goodness so that the person may repent and move toward victory. Our holy scriptwriter is writing the eternal epic of victory over evil, and He wants all of us in that victory march when He leads that procession.
The Apostle Paul had a thirst to know everything and anything about the Lord. Paul was a scholar of the word and had experienced some of the most dramatic encounters with God. He had been knocked off his horse by the light of the Lord’s presence. The angel of the Lord encouraged him to go through a shipwreck and save the crew. He had risen from being pummeled with stones and had visited heaven in a state that he himself could not explain fully. Yet in all this miraculous activity he craved to know the author of his faith. He craved to know God. Phil. 3:10 My goal is to know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, 11 assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead.
As I continue to record and write my commentary on the unsearchable riches of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I find it amazing that the Lord reveals Himself new and afresh to my heart as I give Him all the honour that I can give. Lam. 3:22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. The Lord God is writing an eternal story that I am part of, and I want to know Him who is writing my involvement in His eternal plan. I want to be able to submit to the script He is making note of for my life, which has been written with the blood of Jesus. I have been written into the Lamb’s Book of Life and only Jesus could have done that the way God saw me before I was born. Jer. 1:5a Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. All I can say is, “Thank you, Lord, for being my favourite author.

As I was reading this, I was thinking how sharing our relationship with Jesus and where we are in our faith is a help to others, no matter where we are in that relationship. You are inspiring me to grow, and so is someone who just met Jesus yesterday. God is an incredible Author to have written a story for every heart. Thank you for this good word!
Yes, He is a wonderful writer. He writes code into our DNA. How cool is that?
Hi Norm,
I would rather read five words that are easily understood than ten thousand words of Christian jargon and words and expressions borrowed from the lexicons of every wind of doctrine.
Text without context is pretext. Writers should write with the audience in mind.
God has written the bible so all mankind can read it. He has all mankind as an audience and the meaning of His message is at times very blunt without soft soaping euphemisms.
Sadly, most people are illiterate when it comes to Godly things but very open to new age (and old age) “isms” as Dave calls them.
The Holy Spirit can go into the heart and clarify spiritual meaning from God’s word. The bible is God’s written word to all mankind and the first and last source of truth. There is no new revelation other than Jesus Christ and him crucified before the foundation of the world. It’s the oldest doctrine in the bible.
Just saying.
